The firm was formed following the merger of two long-established commercial legal firms, Howard Gill & Brown (established as King & Gill) founded in 1911 and Neil O’Sullivan & Rowell, established inthe 1950s. Offices were originally established in Brisbane and a branch was established in Beenleigh from the 1940’s.The name RiverLegal was adopted in 2006.
GRH Gill practised with RM King as King & Gill. James Connal Howard Gill A.M. M.B.E. subsequently joined his father in the practice. JCH Gill’s daughter, Elizabeth Howard Gill, following her father and grandfather joined the firm in 1971. Elizabeth practised together with Peter Inigo Brown (trading as Howard Gill & Brown) for many decades.
Scott Anderson joined the firm in 1997, working closely together with Elizabeth and Peter at offices in Brisbane CBD and Beenleigh. Scott was admitted as a partner in 2007.
William Boyd, was admitted as a partner of the firm in 2014. William followed his mother, Helen Boyd, as a solicitor of the firm.
